Situation #2:
Poorly placed tree and shrubs. To much
lawn. (Continued)
The pictures below, are views of the area that
the steps on the left side of the new front deck
lead down to. There are in addition to what is shown
in these photos, several gardens of flowers in this
area.It is very peaceful to sit on the bench in the
evening, listening to the pond and the wind blowing
through the clump aspen next to it. |
 |
This photo is only a very small part of the back
yard. In 1999, there were vegetable gardens, a
greenhouse and a number of fruit gardens. It was
decided to eliminate all of these and replace them
with xeriscape wildflower gardens. This type of
wildflower garden requires little to no maintenance. |
 |
This is one of the two garden benches
in the front yard area. The other bench is hidden
within an ivy covered arbor. |
Here is the end result of our work in 1999. We did keep a
a small patch of grass. It is a grass and wildflower mix.
The mix never gets taller than 12". If that
is to tall for you, it can be trimmed a couple of times
during the summer to keep it around 4" or 5". We
succeeded in making the back yard a very private place
to be.
